parchment headrests need refinishing

My 69 Beaumont has bucket seats replacing bench. The seats are parchment ( light tan), the hdrests look to have been

painted whiteish not matching parchment and are also peeling, looks to be blk underneath finish.

What's the best way to strip paint, prime for adhereing and refinish the hdrests with right colour.

What paint or finish application should I use for vinyl?

Thanks for your help.

Just curious, but wouldn't recovering the headrests be a better option than going through all this work?

I don't know what the cost is,but I would look at that option.

The headrests are one piece like a bolster, I have recovered units and they aren't the same, I think would be easier to refinish.

Didn't think it would be much to strip and refinish, not sure of a primer sort of layer and finish paint.

I've never used them but I believe Eastwood has a lot of stuff for plastic and vinyl repainting and dyeing.....maybe there?

Beau 69 is facing the same dilemma that I will face someday with the headrests in my convertible.  They're intact, but have become discolored over the years.   Someone makes a kit to recover them, but I've heard it isn't very good quality, so redying them may be the solution.

That's exactly it, the recovered ones I was given with the car are pathetic. Made in India. LOL

The hdrests currently are not from original seats, which came from a GTO.

I need to match up the hdrests to the GTO seats, the co. Greaser

forwarded, Eastwood, looks to have the products I'm thinking of.

My hardtop and convertible 2+2's both have "Sandalwood" interiors.  Many people call it parchment, but it actually called Sandalwood.  I suspect that may be the same as the seats he's referring to.

I use SEM paints. You can get it matched in a bomb.Just make sure to wash any armor all ( silicon ) off before wiping down with some lacquer thinner. Then spray.
