This truck is one of 194 exported from the US out of a production of 388 vehicles. It is the largest truck produced by Studebaker that year with a 195 inch wheelbase and a 23,000 lb GVWR. Restoration was started 20 years ago with lots of NOS and new parts utilizied. New fenders, hood, glass, tires, tubes and liners, rear wheels, driveshaft, brake, fuel and vacuum lines and much much more.

Truck is V-8 powered but with a Chrysler Industrial 318 engine instead of the original Studebaker 289. It still runs through the original New Process 5 spd direct transmission and into a 2 speed Eaton rear end. The engine and rear end conversion were done professionally by Levy Brothers of Toronto back in the early 1970's and original equipment could be re-installed with little difficulty. The truck's 23,000 lb rating means it can easily carry a 5 ton load and its frame length will allow up to an 18 ft body to be mounted.

Originally delivered to Overland Express in Windsor, this truck was speced out with all Heavy Duty Equipment including 7,000lb front axle, 16,000 lb rear axle, heavy duty springs, heavy duty rad, extra heavy duty frame (fishplated from the factory) and heavy duty brakes.

The truck has been driven 23 miles since restoration started but has sat for the last 10 years while life has intruded. Needs freshening up and rear brake work. An upcoming move and loss of proper storage and maintainence space forces this sale.

Imop Studes had the ultimate in a nice smooth cab, fenders and hood, but the grills never really seemed to match the rest of the design.

Sweet platform regardless.

Very cool, and I would think very fairly priced. (With unlimited potential.)

All the best vehicles are out east!

I don't know if anyone here is familiar with Burlington, but back in the 70's and 80's there was a Studie fanatic living on Fisher Ave, he had a 5 car garage behind his house, and had this exact truck, same colour combo even. It had a flatbed on it with nicely finished stake sides.
