Actually is a 1976 Grand LeMans with 350 4 bbl Chevy power with 170 HP I recall. The top engine was a Pontiac 400 with 180 HP which is few and far between, especially here in Canada.

Who knows, some people just like being the big dog "I gotta 400"  There are lots of cases where many engines were offered with very little HP differences, If I'm not mistaken you could get a 300 HP 350 in a 69 Parisienne or a 265 HP 396 for example.

Yes I just looked it up the 350 had 380 ft/lbs and was a high compression premium fuel engine while the 396 had 400 ft/lbs and was a lower compression regular fuel engine, perfect for a family station wagon.

Interesting about the use of the chevy engine

Was that still only in Canada in those years?

I found a 76 Lemans in the US on the internet and the site makes reference to it having a 350 Pontiac engine and in the under the hood pictures the engine color is blue

Just on another note this car in Winnipeg has a very similar colour scheme to the 76 Olympic models that were produced that year - I remember seeing a few malibus with the white with red trim combo but don't remember there being any pontiacs done up this way

Not to do the infamous derail, but I was sent a few pics of this treasure yesterday... It has a 350 from what I have been told... I have to get more info... Hopefully not overpriced... Then I will have from '66-'70..

I got the rear brake drums and adjusters etc from this car just the other day. They were like new. You must have taken pics just after I left. Good for converting those 9-1/2 in to 11 in.

Chevy engines in Canadian built cars never really stopped. In 76 the Chevy engines were still orange 250, 350 2bbl, 350 4bbl and 400 4bbl (In B body) In 1977 the engines we all painted corporate blue and then even in USA Chevy engines found their way into Pontiacs, Olds and Buicks.

I am not really an expert on US Pontiacs however in 1976 in a LeMans I believe you could get the Chevy 250 6 an Olds 260 V8, the Pontiac 350 2bbl and 400 4bbl.

There is a Pontiac Olympic edition car offered on the Sport Coupe only. The wrecking yard car is a Grand LeMans with a similar scheme.

Yup. the rear brakes were made bigger for 1976 on all A-bodies except the wagons (already had them). A good thing to keep in mind if you own one of these cars.
