Don't think any of the pics are of Royal Canadian Mounted Police......looks more like police from the American side.

Those were taken at the Weyburn, Saskatchewan detachment. The guy that drove the Strato Chief ended up being a co-owner of A-1 Auto Wrecking in Penticton. They've since sold out.

Interesting side note. That car was the first police car in Canada to be fitted with radial tires to be tested for use at high speeds. You can see they look oversized.

I don't have any pictures, but when I was a kid in Ancaster, the Wentworth County Police had a 1971 Pontiac Laurentian black & white cruiser. That car was destroyed in an accident in the big ice storm of March 1972. Unfortunately the officer that was driving was killed, but his partner, Constable Joy, survived. They were now down to a single unmarked cruiser, a 1970 Ford Custom.

In 1973 they replaced it with a really cool pair of 1973 AMC Ambassador police specials. They had fat stabilizer bars, blackwall radials & small dog dish caps, a/c & 401 power. Wentworth County became Hamilton-Wentworth Region in late 1973 and the Ambassador cruisers were appropriated and taken to downtown Hamilton. In 1978 I saw one for sale as a used car at Bay-King Motors, a Dodge-Chrysler dealership in Hamilton.
