yep, you can see it was white with the tan roof originally. she has decided that since we have one white Pontiac and she does not want it referred to as ecto, this is the paint colours it will be painted.

So we have decided to do a disc brake conversion on the wagon. We are looking at a kit that will allow us to run 14" disc brake rims so the car can continue to look stock.

does anyone know if we can use the brake booster on the car? if yes anyone know what master cylinder would work with it?

thanks

So we got our hands on a roof rack and were given some tired dog dish hubcaps for now as we are not ready for the nos ones obviously. Looks good but going to storage for the summer as we are working away on the impala dash still.

1 day of taping the impala inside and out...

filled and primed holes where the dash pad was.

Wagon off to storage so we can bring the marquis home to try harder to sell this summer.

this has been our adventures for the last 8 weeks. lots still to do as we are still yet to get paint on the impala dash and the power-glide back in and new upholstery still to do in the impala... never bored at my place.

The Impala appears to be a factory a/c car. That Marquis looks to be in amazingly good shape. What is it, a 79 or 80?

Yes the impala is a factor air car. The marquis is an all original 1981 with 54k survivor

We put the suburban to work yesterday. Brought the wagon home to do some work this winter.

First thing on the list is to get it running. And then 700R4 conversion to get it moving on its own power. Then I guess we will need brakes. We are looking for a hood for it also if anyone has one or knows of one.

A point style ignition. Replace the condenser, check point gap. My money is on the condenser.

Or, crazy as it sounds, a bad rotor. I've seen it before. Looks great, won't work

Did you check for voltage at the + on the coil?

I had power to the coil. I am looking into the possibility of turning this car into throttle body fuel injection as my wife will be driving it and it may be more reliable that way for her. I have an HEI distributor and would need it from what I have read for this future conversion. Does anyone know what I have to do to put it in place. (Like where do I put the wires on it instead of my external coil?

An HEI uses just one power wire. You tape up the power wire that goes to your coil now, you won't use it.

Find a terminal on your fusebox that has 12volts to it when your key is either in "on" or "crank" position and run a wire from there to the terminal on the HEI that says "bat" I believe.

Should it be fused and if yes how much. Also any idea what gauge wire it should be? I know lots of questions but too often you hear about silly avoidable fires

Yes it certainly should be fused. I suspect it may already be a fused terminal that uses the fuse right beside it but a simple way to check is pull that fuse with a test light on the terminal you are going to hook up to.

I would think a 12 gauge wire would be about perfect.

Once points are clean you can test before putting cap on. Make sure that points are closed and on flat part if distributor lobe, turn on ignition to run position, use a piece of wood plastic and open points manually (see if you get an arc/snap). Too many times I've had to cap on/cap off! Also with cap off unplug the coil wire out of cap and set about 1/2" from a ground ( intake etc) when you make points snap should be a blue arc from coil wire to ground.

Ill try the points cleaning first as we plan to see how it runs and check some things then haul the engine out anyways while we work away. I got yelled at by my wife the other day for playing with it while she was at work. I have been told I need to wait for her before I proceed so Ill have to wait until this Saturday and let you guys know how we made out.

Mike, here is a far better solution. Put a PERTRONIX electronic conversion in the stock distributor. You will never regret it brother. Cheers. George
