God it's hard to believe that that car is 35 years old already? I remember when they were new. Thought they were cool even back then. Good deal though... Somebody will enjoy that car for sure. GLWS

That still boggles my mind, that it was 35 yrs ago when that car was in the showroom with a sold sign on it. I was at the dealership with my 78 black T/A trying to get warranty work done ( waste of time).
My next door neighbour's brother wanted to buy it, but it was pre sold so he got the one at a Waterloo Pontiac dealer. They were about the same price as a base Corvette and only one per qualifying dealer, so there was no dickering on price. Full list or even more.
I had figured this car was lost over the years but it was stashed away in a garage on a small side street in Woodstock about 6 blocks from where it was sold new.

I told my son about this car at dinner and he thought that it would have been awesome dancing disco too the tunes of the Bee Gee's. His Mom and I had to admit that we would do just that in the disco's in Yorkville. His Mom even had a white 76 Esprit. Funny what kids think, he said what kind of car did Travolta drive in Saturday night Fever.....

I know I've seen the movie and Travolta doesn't have a car, certainly not a George Barris Kustom (barf) Trans Am.

They were definitely THE car to have parked by the front door of the disco Ray. I had my 78 black & gold T/A during that time and the girls liked it a lot more than I did. I traded a 73 black AMX with a 401 4 speed in on that car plus a bunch of cash. I would rather have the AMX back now!
I sold the T/A to buy a 65 Corvette convertible and because I was sick of it by the summer of 80. Every time I drove down the main drag of Woodstock I would see at least 2 or 3 black T/A's. It's hard to fathom now, how popular they were back then. The Mustang became a glorified Pinto, The 'Cuda and Challenger were gone. No SS Chevelle's, GTO's, SD Beaumonts or darn near anything performance related.

The car used in a lot scenes in Saturday Night Live was this 64 Chevrolet 4 door sedan.

Yes, now I remember that 64 Impala. Typical ghetto cruiser back in the day, 4 door for carrying all the thugs around the 'hood. I prefer Cheech's 64 Impala from another 70's classic movie, Up in Smoke. The Love Machine. Check out the front plate!

I met Earl and saw his car at a show this summer. It looks real good in person. As for disco, i was too young to dance but i always remember the words of Johnny Fever...disco is dead, thank god!

Beaumont was running fine when i put her away for the winter. I'm hoping for an early spring to get her out of hibernation.

Earl, if you haven't already done it, advertise that SS in the US just south of you. Their dollar has great buying power here right now and there's a huge SS following all across the US.
