How to mount a new rear sway bar


I purchased a sway bar kit from OPGI. I installed the front no problem. The rear, 10 bolt 3.73 posi, never had a sway bar but I want to add it. Has anyone done this that could post a picture of how it will mount? It came with bolts and spacers, shims and what I believe are pieces to box in the tailing arms....but NO instructions.

Any help would be appreciated

check your trailing arms for any holes!!!! I did one on a 69 olds cutlass & there was only 1 hole in the arm, installed the bar with 1 bolt,& a clamp, drilled 2nd. hole, then added the spacers inside the trailing arm[so in doesn't crush when tightening the bolts] Easy peasy

Yes that is part of the kit and it includes the bolts and spacers to keep from crushing the arms. I will be installing this in a few days, I'll post pics.

Hi Guys, I got the sway bar mounted! I elected not to use the piece to box in the arms it seemed like a needless step when it does nothing to improve performance and doesn't totally box in the trailing arm. Thanks for your responses they were helpful. Can't wait to get this car on the road!

That piece is there for a reason. Likely you will crack one or both of your control arms before too long. They just can't take the twisting action that occurs as you corner. Experience talking here! :)

Same bar on both cars though, so the mounting stuff should be the same.

Hi guys, As I stated earlier I did get the sway bar mounted. I elected not to box it for now and used the spacers. I did get the car on the road about a month and a half ago and have been enjoying every minute that I get to drive her! I am making a list of items that I want to tweak as I move forward on the list is a set of boxed lower trailing arms.

I have pulled bars off A and B cars over the years and never noticed anything different. I thought they both just had two horizontal bolts through a strengthened control arm. What did I miss?

In the middle photo of the 66 Impala above (looking rearward along the lower control arm) you can see 2 different spacers between the sway bar and the control arm.  The spacer closest to the sway bar can either be square or round, and there is two of them (one on each bolt).  The spacer closest to the control arm is a rectangular plate that covers both bolts.  The rear bolt goes all the way through the control arm, and requires a spacer within the control arm so it doesn't crush, but the front bolt only goes into the middle of the control arm.   I have the sheet from the GM assembly manual that gives the dimensions and how they bolt together.
