1964 Convertible

A few years back....I looked at a 64 Parisienne convert...for sale....that had NO power top apparatus......

It was winter...top was up....noticed that there was NO dash switch....then looked behind the rear seat and NO pump/rams,etc.

Till that point,I thought ALL Parisienne's came WITH power top...

Perhaps the power top was included with Custom Sport ....and not (bench seat) Parisienne.

Anybody got Oshawa Docs  on EITHER models to confirm?....OR 1964 Order Guide?....I have a 64 Chevrolet (US) order guide here that I will check.....

One of my rams has been u/s since I bought the car so it's always a manual exercise. No prob getting it down but my wife couldn't put it back up if she tried. I have to stand on the back seat to get it started but it's still a real struggle.

All my converts have had power tops, but have heard of ones without. They were spring loaded, I believe. My 62 Parisienne with bench seat was power.

I am new to your website. I am interested in a 1960 Pontiac Parisienne convertible. Top and entire assembly is missing. Would any members have information on where I could find parts crossover or interchange to find the necessary parts for restoration? Hollander make a parts interchange for GM vehicles for US production. I see through this website that it appears very little Canadian parts interchange with US. I am looking for some clarification in order that I can start my search. Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated. I expect that I may get a serious education here. Bring it on!

Hollander is a US publication, as I recall.....and AMERICANs (in general) know NOTHING about Canadian built Pontiacs....built in the 60's

My GUESS would be that ANY 1960 GM fullsize top frame should be the same....but prolly Impala for sure....

A 1960 Parisienne is basically an Impala frame and running gear   with a Catalina Body and a MIX of Catalina,Ventura and Bonneville interior/exterior trim......

The floorpan, firewall and steering column is Impala....

For certain 1959 + 1960 Chev or Canadian Pontiac convertible assembly will fit. Good chance the same for Olds-Buick-Cadillac.

There is a 59 Impala convert. parts car on kijiji I seen within the last week or so.

I don't know about 64 Pontiacs, but I just thought I'd mention that the convertible top switch for a 62 Impala hangs UNDER the dash. If a 64 Pontiac uses the same setup there wouldn't be any hole in the FRONT of the dash like you might expect to see.
It's not uncommon for a previous owner to strip out all the hydraulics if something wasn't working.

all GM B-bodies use the same convertible top.  59 - 60 will be the same. 59 Impala had the up/down switch under the dash

I have a 64 CS and my step dad has a 64 bench seat and both have power tops and neither show as an option on our GM packages as an added option. I think its standard on both modles

I've had multitudes of full size GM convertibles from the sixties, mostly Parisiennes, and never had one without hydraulic roof.
That being said, I bet you could special order almost anything if you were adamant :)
