Wich product did you use as a sound and Heat barrier underneath your carpet ?
I've seen a lot of different product on Chevy's of the 40's and such, but i'm not sure what's the difference between those products and plain simple house roof / floor insulation wich are half the price.
MickyG - What about this Prodex stuff...cheap price, superior product and could be relatively effective, in an unrelated auto application? Mostly used in the construction trade...just 50 cents / sq. ft. in CND $$. - get on their email list & real sale price approx. $200/roll US (for 700 sq. ft.) plus $50 shipping to MI boarder - far cheaper than the Eastwood relabeled products
I used it under the roof of my sun room, 2 years ago / reduced the heat rays of the sun, by 20 degrees F, made room enjoyable, in summer.
Home Hardware sells exact same stuff, in mini sizes to insulate water heaters, pipes, etc. / marked up +10x...go there to see the thin & strong insulated aluminum foil.

I have the same questions as I'm wanting to deaden any road noise I can while I've got access to the interior body of the SD.
I have used a similar product to Prodex when I insulated my metal roofed shop and it works incredibly well at reflecting heat gain here in sunny California. I have been considering using it in the Delivery mainly for it's insulative benefits but I'm not sure what it would do for sound deadening though. It may not be good for floor pans as any weight or impact could pop the cells.
Well ... I've received the new carpet yesterday and to my surprise, there was a good 3/4 inch of sound deadening material underneath ... sooooo .... i've decided to keep the rest of my money in my pocket ...

I came across a material known in the U.S. as "Bitchuthane"that is primarily used as a flashing membrane to weatherproof window and door installations during construction. It sells here at Home Depot for about $0.75/ sq.ft in 6" and 12" x 50' rolls. Hughly cheaper than other sound-deadoning products.
It is 1.2 mm. thickness with a peel off film so is sticky double-sided. To me it looks like Dynamat but at way less buckeroos. I have tried a couple of sample pieces on the interior sidewalls of the Delivery and it seems to stay there. I bought a 12" x 50' roll and will definitely use it on the floor pans, but I have concerns about mounting it above the headliner in case it looses adhesion during a hot day in the sun (of which we have many here). Also not sure whether the material will emit any tar-type smell in the heat.
Anyone have any experience with these issues with Dynamat or other products?
