Looking for some honest advise

After 37 years I have decided that I will be selling my 1966 Beaumont Sport Deluxe Convertible that now has 17,983 original miles. Setting a price that is fare to the buyer and seller is proving to be difficult as this is a very rare car, so my question is does anyone have any advise on how I can set a selling price for my car that is both fare to the buyer and seller or should I just go to auction.

No I had it painted in 1979 because the paint had faded because it sat outside from 1967 until I purchased it in 1979, it was done in the original colour.

Firstly, let me say: that is one beautiful car!  Would love to see more pics of it.

Regarding pricing, you have a very rare car in a desirable body style.  The fact that it is a low-mileage original makes it even more so, IMHO.

If you are not in a hurry to sell it, I would suggest pricing it with an amount you would be comfortable with and let the buyers figure out what is fair for them.

There are others here who would be more knowledgeable as to price, but what do you think would be a fair price to you?

Also, be sure you want to sell it, as you will likely never find another one like it again.

You could go fishing on ebay with a reserve that you are happy with. It will get the car 'out there' in terms of marketing and you'll get a sense of what someone is willing to pay, plus whatever inquiries you will get to sell outside of ebay. Just make sure you place a detailed ad with lots of clear photos.

Setting the value isn't too easy, the car is rare so it's hard to find good precedents that sold. Location helps too, and being in the southern Ontario market will broaden your market. The car looks nice in the photos, has a nice colour combination that will help value and so will taking your time to find the right buyer.

Good luck!

if you aren't in a hurry I would get a new appraisal and put a number out there you are comfortable with like I was told top goes down price goes up good luck check what 66 chevelles rags are going for in the states and rember beaumonts are far more rare in fact was watching barret Jackson and they talked about the beaumonts and he said they never had a Beaumont cross the podium

Actually in 2009 the Barret-Jackson sold a 1966 Pontiac Sport Deluxe hard top for $27,000 US . Its the only one on record that I have come across over the years.

What do you feel the car is worth today? 2003 prices were about on par with today's selling prices in my experience. The current market is flooded with old cars, poor economy, & aging Boomers who are losing interest in the hobby or just plain dying off.

You have a very nice car there. But you alone have to decide what your final sale price will be. So many factors come into play.

Such as how bad do you want it gone, Cost of owning it, storage, insurance, fuel, maintenance, etc VS. how much you need / want the money instead of the car.

I feel its probably a nicer car than most 66's by the looks of it, but convincing someone to dig deep enough to satisfy/justify letting it go is another thing altogether.

 Good Luck

My Dad loves that car. I can remember going to a car show and seeing that car - My Dad talked to you so long that we never got to see the rest of the car show. He told me he remembered that car at the Beaver gas station in Welland when he was my age ! He said he always wanted that car.

There is nobody more honest than my Dad , give him a call , tell him how much you want for it, I am pretty sure that if he can afford it he will buy it.

Wow also as I recall the car being previously featured and then your decision now to sell it. I hope you aren't in a hurry so that you get the price you are happy with and what that car deserves. A friend of mine out here in the Okanagan valley had a similar car to yours but it was a Chevelle, 66 rag, blue on blue, all power options including windows, nut and bolt restoration, pretty much a perfect car. He bought it around 10 years ago out of the States in the 60g. range and it was sold for about the same money here 4 years ago, still resides in Penticton. Prices have fallen some now obviously but and a big but is there are guys out there that have lots of money and if they see a car like yours will pay a good dollar. When guys can pay 60,70, and even up to a hundred g. for a pickup you know if they want it money can be spent. I don't know how Joe L has made out with his beautiful 65s but I think he was in the 70-80 range and they make for a comparison of top end prices. I am just not aware of them selling yet though at that price. I am sure there isn't another car in the country close to the condition and mileage of yours so it carries a very special attraction. I am sure some of those high end dealers out east would love to consign it for you. It would be really neat if someone on the forum here could swing a deal with you. I also wish you good luck with your sale.

I want to thank everyone for there well respected opinions and realize that the most important fact is that I sell it for a price that I'm happy with and that a potential buyer is willing to pay for it. I'm not in a rush but will set a price on it soon.
