I know the guy who has it. He is a used car dealer/local business man. A very nice guy. He has a lot of fun with old cars. I don't think he has plans to modify the Pontiac. It's not his cup of tea. He took it in on a trade. I saw the car up close. It looks to be like a solid old car. Starts right up ... idles well ... runs well ...

If anyone wants/needs some close up hi Rez pics. I could scoot on down to Shediac (30KM) a take them.

Haha ... sent him a link to this conversation ...

''they must be bored ... if it doesn`t sell in the next month or so I may give them a real reason to talk ..lol''

He like to play with old cars ... if you are interested ... don't wait for more than a month or so ... :)

Not bored, but interested in old Canadian Pontiacs, which is why I continue to come here.  I posted the car because it's an interesting Canadian Poncho that somebody might be interested in - just that.  Didn't think we needed a greater reason for it.

IMHO, it would be a shame to butcher this one, but it's his car, so cut away... fill yer boots.

If he wants to give us something to talk about, do a period-correct 409 4-speed conversion, then we'll have a reason to talk.  We'll follow the project with appreciation for all the research and hard work done.

If he wants to cut it up, then it just becomes another rat/hot rod whatever.  There will likely be an initial reaction, kinda what you do when you see pics of a train derailment or something similar, then it will be forgotten.

More power to him, it's a hobby - do what makes you happy.  That's what it's all about.  Nobody has to answer to anybody for what they do to their own car, and I personally am well past the point in my life where I feel I have to care about it.

I think his comment was made tongue in cheek. I don't believe he has plans to butcher it up.

Even if he did, it's none of my business. Nice car and I hope he finds an appreciative buyer for it.

I too hope he finds an appreciative buyer! It is a rather nice car.

The offer stands. I can go look at it closely if anyone is interested in the car.

Nice car but initially over priced. Can't blame a seller for casting out a fishing lure to start.

Does the trim between the top and rear quarter indicate that at one time it had a vinyl roof? Was a vinyl top even an option on a Laurentian? Would a buyer opt for a vinyl top but specify a 6cyl, std tranny and std brakes?

Ad contains a variant on one of my favourite lines " good shape for xx years old ". What exactly does that say and mean?

Man, what a beautiful car!

I wonder if they had the D99 two tone moulding option available on them like many other Canadian cars of that era? It sure would explain that moulding. The cowl tag on the car would tell the story.

I am busy for the next few days ... but I will ask the owner to take a pic of the cowl tag ...

That Cummins powered Plymouth is my all time favorite local rod. There are just so many words that I know to express COOL! , and I have used them all on that car. If you guys are interested in seeing photos of the plymouth ... just for discussion purposes ... I can snap a few next time I am in the area.

Did you see the car in person GaWajn? I'm curious as to how solid it really is.

I saw it in person ... looked solid enough to me. But like I said ... if you are interested ... I can take a closer look and get better pics to you ... including getting the car on a hoist.

Cool!  How can you tell what the original colours were?  The paint code is only "L".

So it has the divider moulding but was a single colour.

Somehow I miss the days when you could tick off any option on the order form and build your own private car. This vs today when you have to take "packages" which include 10 things you don't need or have no use for just to get the 1 option you really want.
