Looking to buy or where to buy 9.5" rear brake backing plates that are 2 piece to replace rusted out backing plates for 78-91 models Nova, Monte Carlo,+++
Rear spider gear pin lock bolt broken and not able to pull out axles. Thanks for any help.
Interesting article on how to improve 9-1/2" GM brakes: http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/49418-cheap-street-brakes/ All early GM 9-1/2-inch drum brakes use a four-bolt mounting arrangement to attach the backing plate to the rear axlehousing. Later-model GM 9-1/2-inch drum backing plates make use of a two-bolt system.....
Double Z - the 2 piece backing plates, were once manufactured in St. Thomas, ON (long gone now)...maybe the local NAPA or CarQuest has some old stock (??).
