66 catalina rear springs

Guys ,

I need some help. I have saggy springs in the catalina and one side is 2 inches lower than the other. Since the previous owner lowered the stance with drop spindle fronts and who knows what for rear springs we want to put new springs in to stop the exhaust from dragging on the street when I hit low spots in the pavement and getting in and out of my garage.

The local shop tightened up the poor exhaust job and got it tighter to the frame, but cant source the right rear springs. They got two sets in from their distributors  and the coil ends are too small. The moog number that showed a picture with the right size ends wasnt any different than the impala springs they first tried.

Anyway - does anyone out there know what spring I should get for a 66 catalina 2 dr HT with a 389. I have searched the net myself for a couple hours but they all seem to have front springs only. nobody lists rear springs available.

Also _ I was sure the only differences in the catalina from a parisienne were minor interior cosmetics. I had a guy who seemed to know a lot of details tell me that the catalina is actually on a buick frame and is 4 inches longer than a parisienne. what do the gurus say?

thanks

Lloyd in Saskatoon

Catalina is on a Pontiac chassis, Parisienne is on a chevy (mostly) chassis. Interchange on rear springs would be 65-66 P8/full size/catalina/Bonneville/grand prix......may be other years, makes also.

Many choose to order custom springs as the cost is not much more and you can increase the rate and slightly lower or raise them for the stance you want.

Otherwise I believe Moog part number for the rears are 5043.

Thanks for the info. i have left request for quote at both places.

I even went to Moog site and that number is unavailable. seems they have stopped making it. That was the number the shop got too but couldnt get one anywhere. i spent even more time looking at pontiac salvage yards and cant find rear spriongs. I guess people think they last forever.

ebay shows them, but for some reason does not list the catalina as an interchange on the ebay sites.
