1987 Pontiac Fiero GT. 19000km , Dundas NB

By 87-88 Pontiac had most of the kinks out of the Fiero. I don't mind the GT's. Don't like the wheels on this one though. 19000km and probably one of the nicest around. I'd like to swap an LS (or at least a SC3800) into one of these. Price seems not bad for what it is. Future collectable? Who knows. At least its rear wheel drive!

I was just reading about the "new" Pontiac Fiero in a 1984 issue of Collectible Automobile magazine last night. It was a story under the "Future Collectibles" column. The story said they'd be a sought-after collectible by the year 2000.biggrin

I think these will be right with the Pontiac Solstice as a future collectible. A small niche.

In spite of their lack of following, I've always thought they were cool from day one. I'll never own one though, not too practical for me!

I like them also, but not from day one. The first years styling (more angular) weren't as nice as the later years (in my opinion), and they were also under-powered until they got a V-6.

The '87 posted is a nice car.

The one you want...1988 (last year) GT

The 1988 Fiero is the most desired by automotive collectors because of the improvements made to the 1988 model year,

and this was the last year of production.

The 1988 Mera seen as the most sought after model and tops the Fiero list in resale value this model is commonly used to create "kit cars" (replicas of high end sports cars).

The MERA was sold through Pontiac dealers only as a new car. No kits were ever sold, and only new Fieros were used for the conversions.

The MERA was not endorsed by GM but was a Pontiac dealer option similar to that of ordering a conversion van.

Yes, the '88's got rid of the Chevette based suspension and they got the WS6 style springs etc. It's not hard to upgrade the 87's with larger rotors from other GM vehicles etc. Looks like the car is back for sale:
