10 bolt posi for Chevy II, drop out style, $250

I didn't know they used the drop out style rear ends in Chevy II's.  Were these ever used in the Acadians?

1962,63 and maybe 64.

Just like a 1964 and older full size but considered weaker.

Rare unit, Acadian and Chevy II only, 4 bolt axles.

Thanks
Randy

I have a P carrier in my 63 Acadian  and 5 bolt axles ?   wonder what magic took place .. or if that was a direct bolt in?

I think they were available in 5 bolt as well, your car certainly proves it.

There was some overlap with 4 and 5 bolt axles, and 13" and 14" wheels during the 1962-67 time period.

Carl S will know the details off the top of his head!!!

That diff is a score for the right person!!

Yours is certainly rare!!!

Thanks
Randy

The 62-63 10 bolt front carrier differentials were weaker due to course spline axles (17).  I have never seen a "P" case in an Acadian or Nova.  The ones I have had were from a Corvette or full-size car.  In 64 the differentials in Nova and Acadian cars were 10 bolt, same 8.2" ring gear. axles were 28 spline, so stronger than the early course spine, 5 lugs and a rear inspection cover.

I found the early 62-63 posi differentials such as the one listed here were not that uncommon in Canada and the western or mountain states in the U.S.  These cars didn't have much in the way of traction so adding positraction was seen as an assist in winter and rough terrian.  I believe positraction was even more common in the wagons in these areas with more weigh in the rear.  The option was so cheap and not really noticeable that many 2nd and beyond owners, didn't even know it was on their cars.

I just assumed that my P case came from a big car ? That they were interchangeable.
