Parking light frustration!! 1967 Parisienne

Hi Guys, It's MOT time and my car won't pass as it has a parking light out. Indicator works fine. As you all know, they are double filament bulbs, one filament for parking light, larger, brighter one for turn signal. Easy, I thought, smack a new bulb in, all good! Not so, tried three new bulbs, same problem. Unplugged the unit and cleaned all contacts, no good. Removed headlight switch, cleaned all contacts, still no good! Unplugged light unit again and swapped it for another I had lying around, same problem!! Anyone got any ideas? It's doing my head in!! Thanks lads Ian (UK)

Oh, I should add, the light earths out to the body, so I cleaned all earth points on the light and body also. Also wired a separate earth in just to test, still no joy!!!

Perhaps there is a break in the feed wire? Run a temporary jumper from the socket to the switch and see if that works.

With the park lamps on or with the headlamps on?  As you may not be aware, originally, the park lamps are not on when the headlamps are on... Did you check for 12v with the park lamps on at the lamp pigtail connector behind the rad support? And since the signals work, yorr ground (earth) connection is fine.

I knew that they should go out when the headlamps are on for pre 68 cars but mine always stay on. One is on,one off. Sometimes though, they do go off when the lights come on!
However, it's looking like it's the pigtail connector at fault. Gonna check it out properly this week. I'll let you know. Weird though that they stay on but occasionally go off!
