65 Studebaker Daytona. Saint George, NB

As some of you know I'm a big Studebaker fan, especially those built in Hamilton and I always liked the 65 Daytona 2 door sedan. Canadian Stude's were available with a GM straight six or a GM 283's (built at Mckinnon Industries). Dig the "Studebaker" valve covers. Rear fenders bolt on which was a great idea. Want...

Different from the ordinary but very visually pleasing. Appears in great shape so would make a very interesting driver.

I really like it. As they said back in the 1965 ads, "Canada's Own Car".

I have somewhere an original ad from the Hamilton Spectator an ad for a 65 Studebaker. They were sold at Montclair Motors which was on King Street in Hamilton. Back in 1971 we were looking a Datsun for mom at Montclair Motors; one side sold Datsuns, the other sold Mercedes. It is funny that Studebaker was responsible for being the importer of Mercedes, and at one point they tried to be the importer of Datsuns.  I didn't realize the connection until the early 1980s. Mom ended up not with a Datsun 1200 or 510, but a Beetle.

The President of Studebaker Canada, Gordon Grundy, lived about 3 blocks from our house in Ancaster until about 1980 when he moved to South Carolina. Neil Gaskin was the Purchasing Director for Studebaker Canada and was personal friends with my parents. Sometime they would come over from Brampton to play bridge with my parents.

Our caretaker at Memorial School in Ancaster loved Studebakers. He had a pair of immaculate 1965s, a 4-door & a stripped 2-door. He retired late in 1972 and I never saw him or his Studes again though he lived not too far away in Waterdown.

I remember a silver version of the car shown in the Kijiji link back in the early 70s in town. To my horror they entered it into a smashup derby in 1975 bleh

There was a teal-coloured 65 Studebaker wagon in my neighborhood in the 60s. They kept it until replacing it in 72 with a 72 Nomad wagon.

There was also one of the very late Lark-based pickups in town. It was full of bondo and I doubt it survived beyond about 1981.

I'm a huge Stude fan also ... been studying up on them courtesy of the Charlottetown Library for years now. They have a Turning Wheels (Studebaker Club) subscription.

Hudson's are one of my favs also!

... and repro. trim and sheet metal. It also seems like a lot of mechanical parts cross-over to other makes.

It seems Stude people tend to be an older group also.

Went to a Studebaker collection this August. About 10 cars and 1 truck. From an original 1922 open car up to an Avanti. All licensed and roadable.
