Hi everyone, Looking to put a new battery in my 66. I currently have a faulty AC Delco thats been in it for years. It's a modern looking side post 700 CCA battery. it worked fine for years but has bitten the bullet. I have been intrigued by the vintage batteries and have looked at the AC Delco DC12 yellow cap battery. I have been tipped off that these batteries are junk...maybe to consider the topper. I prefer to not put the topper on it. I want a real stock/performance look. Any feedback on this topic is appreciated and if anyone can recommend where to buy the DC12 without shipping it out of the US would be appreciated, really just wanting to get some feedback on the "junk" comment I was told of o a recommended battery.
I know one guy told me at a car show that he would never buy the repro again, just a topper, because it hadn't lasted.
As stated, I'd buy a good Delco battery and put that in. It looks as correct as you can get other than a topper or repro. Unless you have a 100 point car, (and maybe you do, I don't know) I'd settle for whatever looks close.
Pet peeve of mine is all different brands you see under the hoods of otherwise totally detailed to original engine compartments. Sorry to you guys who do that but to me a green/red/whatever other colour battery just looks wrong.

There are some really nice battery toppers out there that make your new battery look vintage.
I put one of those battery tops on my newer battery of my 57 Pontiac and check out the results. I got mine at Legendary Motor Car in Milton. It is pricey but well worth it. Cheers. George
