239 L6 Electronic conversion

Looking to change out my points on the Pathfinder but can't seem to find one for the 239 flathead. Does anyone know where they can be purchased? Not to concerned on brand just need to get the points out!

Thanks

There is nothing wrong with using original ac delco ignition systems. Petronix will custom make a 6 volt ignitor electronic system for your original distributor but it will take a couple of days to get made and cost well over $100 US. I ordered a set of points ,condensor, rotor and distributor cap and it was available overnight from a Benson's part store for $75 tax in.

I had an ignitor system made and it did not last long due to a possible key on situation that caused premature failure of the unit. No warranty. I had kept all the original parts and just reinstalled them and the car started right up. I also had to grind the mounting part of the ignitor unit to fit the distributor correctly as it was too large and interefered with the distributor housing. This unit is different than a chevrolet as the distributor is different . 6 volt chevy petronix units are an in stock item.

It is much easier to remove the 239 distributor and install the ignition parts with the distributor in a vice. You can set the point gap and check every high point opening with a set of feeler gauges and have an easier time with the small point and condensor screws.Just make sure you mark the rotor position when removing the distributor but installation is easy as it can only install two ways correct or 180 degrees out of position.

Thanks for the info and advice Al. I will give the original setup a fair chance. I did notice that as a lot of the engine bolt on parts the dizzy(1110222) is from pre 52 era too. So when I get my parts car home I will remove its dizzy and rebuild it and install as per your instructions.
