Description

This car was stored in my deceased brother-in-law's Orono garage, undriven, for some 27 years --- prior to that, it sat in a closed Oshawa garage, since about 1975...

It was "re-discovered" in 2010, after his death. We took the effort of cleaning it up and restoring it mechanically, to the point that it was our sometime "summer driver" from 2011, to the present day.

However, we have always had to pay for its storage over the winter, and in the past 6 years, or so, have detected the appearance of rust that we never really noticed before. Full and completely serious restoration would doubtlessly require thousands of dollars in body work and in paint, money and effort that we simply do not wish to dedicate toward at this time...

The interior of the car is actually quite remarkable for its age. My brother-in-law stored it away from the elements in a sealed garage with rubber floor carpets and fabric covers atop the seats. When we dragged the car out from its place of hibernation, the formerly red mats had turned grey(!) with age --- but their removal revealed a wonderfully red coloured factory installed carpet...and the seat covers literally pulverized with their removal, leaving behind rich red --- and undamaged --- cloth and vinyl seats.

Closed storage preserved the dash and steering wheel, as well, over the decades.

The car was custom ordered from GM Oshawa by a typically frugal east European: it has the base straight-6 engine (unfortunately), standard brakes, a two-speed "Power Glide" automatic transmission, DELCO AM radio, and --- because my wife's father had a a heart condition --- he paid extra for the power steering option. He even went so far as to order optional $15.00 lap-type seat belts --- for the front bench seat only for himself and his wife (I guess he figured my then 10-year old future wife would be safe enough in the back sat without any!).

The accompanying photographs were taken of the car right after its extrication --- and clean-up --- out of my brother-in-law's garage.

The car was appraised in 2010 - 2011 for $7,500.00. Special note was made of its interior therein. The appraisal is still here someplace, and will be made available for review, if requested. We are asking $6,500.00 "as is," or best offer, for this very drivable, head-turning car...

So what's YOUR offer, all things taken into consideration?

It has rust on parts of the outside surface, and quite extensively on the underbody panels / body mounts, which I think detracts from its original appraised price of some 7 years ago --- but make no mistake about it: this car can be driven home, if acquired by you --- trailers need NOT apply here!

NOTES:

(1) Newcastle --- where the Pontiac is located --- is some 60-kilometres, or so, east of Toronto, and 4-kilometres due north of Highway 401;

(2) Please include a telephone number where you may be reached in your first e-mail to me, and,

(3) Any successful sale of the car to you will require your presence, along with ours, at the nearest M.O.T. licensing office for formal final signing-over of ownership from us, to you.

Thanks so very much for looking...

I agree Darryl, very honest and thorough. It's a sharp looking car in my opinion as well.

He could teach marketing to a lot of guys on Kijiji.

One thing I always try to get is all the history on a car that I possibly can.

Agreed, sharp looking car.

When you go to MTO to get buyers/sellers package, you can then do the signing at the kitchen table .    Car will sell well for 1/2 that price (IMO)
