Emblem Placement Dimensions

There was a thread with discussion on where to locate emblems on a particular vehicle. Todd has suggested that there be a section in each of the separate forums for particular models, so I will start one in each of those sections.

If you are able to assist with specs on body emblem placement for the models in this section, please post them in this thread.

I can merge it into this thread if you can show me where it is.

Hi Guys

I was putting on the SPORT DELUXE Emblems on the rear quarters today and realized that the dimensions will be different from one side to the other as the DELUXE is closest the tail light on the drivers side and the SPORT is closer the tail light on the passenger side.
As well the studs on the emblems are a different distance apart.
OR Am I missing something here?
2.710 between studs on the SPORT and about 2.20 on the DELUXE and the stud on the SPORT is on the leading edge and on the DELUXE it starts about 1.15 in from the edge.
I can do the math but because of the studs located at different spots its hard to know where to start the holes so that it is right and not just a guess.
I believe that both of the above pictures are for the same side, that is Drivers Side or the Left Side
Maybe I will INVERT the picture for the other side
Thanks Bert

Hi again

Gave up on the SPORT DELUXE on the rear fender, I marked out the placement of the holes and the SPORT looks a little tilted,
but will admit that it could look like that until I get the holes drilled and properly mounted.

I will need the passenger side template if any one has it.

Also I tried to lay out the front fender BEAUMONT and V8 emblems and not to great success.
I took measurements from the above thread and from an old fender that I had,
marked out all the measurements from all the threads and my fender and I have 3 different locations???

This could be from not very accurate measurements or that the cars being repaired over time and had the emblems in different locations?
The top down measurement was fairy close to each other maybe 1/2 in difference, but the front / back location was out by quite a bit.

Could any body post measurements from an original fender with accurate measurements?

It may be helpful also to measure from REAR of the front fender as there is a good line to measure from
(ie. between front fender and door )
and maybe using a square measuring up from the bottom of fender or
using a square to measure down from top of fender, but will say the top body line works pretty good.
Thanks guys for all your help
Maybe I will e-mail GM as well
THANKS a BIGGGG BUNCH
BERT

HI AGAIN

I found a old 1966 Beaumont front fender with the "V8" holes covered in with Bondo but the Beaumont emblem holes intact.

I removed Bondo from V8 holes and did some measuring with the emblems in place, on this particular fender.

If you compare distance between top of emblems "center mark" the dimensions are different from the yellow pictures above and Measure_3 pic I sent??

I am not saying these are right but just different.

If you compare the purple/brown color picture above with the measurements to the front edge at about 4 15/16 to front edge again different measurements from Measure_2 pic that I sent??

So now what to do?

Can anybody confirm that the above pictures are not modified originals fenders?

I have been 2 days measuring and getting information and still have not drilled a hole.

I just thought I would let you know there are some discrepancies confuse

We will get to the bottom of this I don't give up too easy.

I also contacted GM and we will see what the outcome of that is.

Thanks for all the help

BERT

Hi
I just noticed something, 427 Carl is that a 67 Beaumont "V8" emblem or is it just the picture?

I would hazard a guess, but I'm not 100%, that they used chevelle fenders and had templates on the assembly line. That could be what the discrepancy in locations are, I know my fenders are the original SD fenders.
