I used John's handy price guide information to price out the options on my GM documentation. Makes my 2+2 a rather expensive car for the day at $5400, whereas I think my parents only paid $2800 for our Laurentian (which was a low-option demonstrator).

The engine/trans equate to about 9% of the total purchase price. In today's market they likely boost the value of the car about 50%, maybe more. Good investment.
