1955 Pontiac Pathfinder Straight Six Swap

I am installing a 292 inline six into my 55. Where can I start with motor mounts? The 292 uses an offset motor mount on the passenger side but I'm unsure what aftermarket mounts or combination of mounts to start with.

Ted, you should try getting on the INLINERS INTERNATIONAL web site and see if the info is there. I know there are many members with souped up 292's in there cars. For those that do not know, the 292 was the Chevrolet truck inline six motor. This motor was from the 194 230 250 family but it was taller in height than the other three motors. Ted, good luck with the search and keep us posted on your results. Cheers. George

I had a 292 six in my old plow truck. It was a real torque engine and it would push a lot of snow. The only repair I had to do was a flywheel which was unique to that six cylinder. If I remember correctly the flywheel bolts were also a larger size and I had to buy a box of bolts from GM.

Kay Sissel was a guy that hot rodded the 292 and if you do a search you may find some articles. His logo was 6=8. He was making 300 streetable horsepower with the 292.

As a kid growing up in the late 60's and early 70's and reading HOT ROD, Car Craft, Popular Hot Roding and others. I remember Kay Sissel and his long line up of six banger drag cars putting V-8's on the trailer early all the time. He was a major six banger pioneer.
