Happy New Year! It's hard to believe 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of Canadian Poncho. Why not kick of the celebrations with a feature car that is truly a Canadian exclusive? Marc Allen owns this tastefully modified 1968 Beaumont SD. Marc had tried a few times to buy the car but the owner wouldn't sell. As we can see persistence paid off and Marc is now the proud caretaker. Marc tells us a bit about the car:
When I became a fan of the Beaumont I started looking seriously for one of them. I was looking for a specific model, a 1968 Beaumont SD. This is the third one that I own. When I found the car it has had belonged to quite a few people. The last owner being from Marieville, Québec. Two years ago I made an offer to the owner and he didn't accept it.
I kept reaching out to the owner and finally last September he agreed to sell it to me. Now the car sleeps in my garage.
It has a 468 ci BBC, with aluminum heads, TH 400, stall 3500, 12 bolt posi 3.73 and a dragster suspension.
I haven't done any serious work on the car yet, only fixed a few items, like a flasher, licence lights, back up lights, horn, transmission cooler and alternator.
I installed LED lights in the cluster. The build sheet indicates the Beaumont was delivered to Abais Pépin Automobile in Longueuil, Québec.
This winter I want to replace the transmission. I have a rebuilt TH400 full manual, replaced both bumpers and redo all the chrome so it's even shinier. I have installed a monster tach and want to add three gauges on the hood: water temp, gas pressure and oil pressure.
I already own two 1968 Beaumont SD projects, but I'm happy that I'll be able to cruise with this one next summer!
