Yes, it was for sale in Medicine Hat last year. It was an estate sale. There's a couple of threads on here from that time I believe.

With the spinners and so on doesn't look like it'd be an original owner car, I wouldn't think, even though it was an estate sale.  Is that "Crystal Turquoise"? I've never seen another!

hard to tell if its Crystal Turquoise or Warwick blue in that pic, i'd guess its CT. Not a big fan of twin antennas, they went out of style with 409's!!

There was no rear antenna option (certainly not dual) for '69 Canadian cars, was there? I have a single on the back of my black car, but the red car's still stay up front where it's supposed to be.

Whoops, I'm thinking of a totally different car, a 67 427.

I think I remember Scott (Landshark) commenting on this car on the site a while ago. He has one like it in colour scheme:

Its a beauty, wished I could see more of it. After acquiring this 68 Grande big block, I now know what I am going to end up owning "one day" and it will be a 427 and a 4 speed. One day, not today, but one day. And, it will be a bucket model (if there is such a combo still in existence). My 68 is a good "starter" collector, LOL. I like it, very much but after being exposed to all the different Cdn Ponchos and the info, members on this site, one day, that is where I am going to end up.

Would you only buy an original or buy a car and convert it?

The reason I ask is, it's so tough to find an original one and if you're ok with a clone, there's some nice cars out there that you could buy and make your own.

Yes, I realize the original one might be impossible to find.  I am partial to the 68 and 66 Grandes but the 2plus2 does it for me as well.  I guess you would always want to get your hands on the ultimate like it came out of the factory but it might be a clone you end up with.  I guess depending on how much the clone was altered.  But, there always seems to be one that pops up somewhere.

Just like your Strato, did you ever think you would come across a car so original, so clean and sound?  Likely not, but one day, there it was, in your backyard no less!

But, this won't be happening in the near future.  I am going to enjoy my Grande this summer the way it is!  I have a C3 disc set to go this summer!  Hmm... I guess that is altering it, LOL!

There was no power antenna option but there was a rear antenna (manual) option on 69 Canadian cars (beaumont too I believe).  U73 was the code, $12.00 and optional on all but wagons.

It's all about perspective, as I was thinking how nice it would be to have your car... mind you I missed my chance when it was for sale in my home province.

But, yes, a 427 4-speed 2+2 would be pretty amazing to have!  smile

Agreed, we often tend to think that the car we dream of isn't out there (at least affordable). Never, ever say never.

My black 66 Grande Parisienne that I bought when my life still permitted a project car came out of nowhere.

Then, when my life situation changed and I just needed a nice driver, the Strato Chief blindsided me!

Never lose hope (oops, I said "never")

My dream car was out there (427/390 four speed convertible '69) but it was in a bajillion pieces! So be careful what you wish for, or have very -specific- wishes!

On the antenna that's good to know, I stuck mine back there without regard to whether it was really factory or not, but interesting that it was! I won't move the red car's, of course. Too bad it wasn't ordered that way!

Sorry that's just a photo from my "427" folder of cars that I've hung onto it. It could be 10 years old. Your best bet is to try to search by image with google for each of the images and hope it matches one the owner has posted elsewhere.

Not a current for-sale listing or anything like that!

 BASED ON THE LONG AIR-CLEANER SNORKLE, I WOULD GUESS IT'S A LS1.
