Engine break in stand

FEB5EBE4-D3BB-4D69-934E-84C94BF1848E.png

So , we all wonder how good that new engine will run .. but have to wait until its in the hole to hear the thunder .

Well , Big Steve donated this heavy duty engine stand, I donated the everything else which I had laying around.

Smashed this together over the last few days . Made everything adjustable and quick attach rad slide in and out , gauge pod drops into place , mounts can be adapted and adjusted for almost anything .

I did my best to make it universal.

Id Like to say I have zero dollars in , but I had paid $100 for the aluminum rad / fan combo years ago .

Oh .. and the engine sounds crisp ! Did the break in last Friday !

Pretty slick guys!  There is very little in life  as satisfying as firing up the engine you've been slaving on for the first time and hearing that baby roar.

I've done it often enough to wish I had tried many of them out on a stand before investing the time to re-install  it in the vehicle.

My brother rigged one up to check out this beast which presently resides happily in a 55 chevy.

Beautiful ANZAC?

Nice job Roger, it doesn't have to be fancy, just safe and secure.

A 4 point BB stand can easily be mcgiver'd into a test stand.

I'd be leery to go to all the trouble to install a new DIY and never run motor without doing a pre run up. I'm glad I did. I wasn't happy with the oil pressure, and it required a change to a HV pump. It would have been a big setback in car. It also uncovered a few minor things, and it was a way to get it to at least idle half decent.

It's also very satisfying getting the buds together to see it when it first fires, and the neighborhood loved it too...not!

I made one from scratch about 15 years ago.  Use it for every engine.  I will not install a motor until it has run on a stand,  just not worth the risks, especially for a fully detailed rebuild

Saw one built on a small boat trailer chassis, you could tow the whole setup behind your vehicle.

Yup nice job on the stand, but we need proof that it runs. LOL, also can't put video on here. Will try you tube.

Ah there we go. I kinda cheated on the engine stand deal though.
