70 455 Pontiac motor on kijiji Thunder Bay

Does it matter that it's been run on propane.

Yep. Propane burns very clean when compared to Gasoline.

So you're saying that's a plus?

While it looks like a fresh rebuild, I suspect it's a rattle can rebuild as there's no mention of a rebuild. I wonder if it's specifically a 1970 engine, or 1970's. I suppose the fact it's been on propane all it's life is a plus, but I'd have other questions like what is the casting info, etc.

I know at the dealership we saw propane conversions on 366/427 trucks years back and loved them (because they were good for business, typically they burned pistons!)

1970 engine running on propane is a bit of a red flag. You need, at least, hardened valve seats or you will burn valves.

Propane is >100 octane (104 to 112), so it works great with higher compression, but it does tend to burn hot and of course, there's no tetra ethyl lead to protect the valves. If the mixture is not correct, you can burn valves very quickly. This is more serious than the unleaded gasoline issue with respect to hardened seats.

The block might be a 1970, but I suspect heads might have been swapped for newer ones with the hardened seats.

These are old style heads, I can tell by the shape of them.

Emailed him, heads are #15s with small valves pressed in studs so the engine is probably out of a regular 70 Bonneville.
