This is one car that I don't understand why it hasn't sold yet - '58 Safari

This one has been on here a few times - currently advertised on kijiji NB but not in its home province of NS.

Has coolness factor - wagons being popular now.  Has rareness factor - how many of these were made, and how many still survive?  I'm guessing very few.  Alberta car - so it's solid.  Am I remembering correctly that it has mostly original paint?

Anyhow, it's not cheap but not too far 'out there'.  Seeing lots of lesser-interesting cars for sale these days at two or three-times the asking price of this, with only a little more work done to them to make them look shiny...

Hopefully he finds the right buyer one of these days as IMHO it's one of the better finds on kijiji these days.

I am thinking by the looks of the pics that there is plenty of work to do underneath !

Neat wagon though.Don`t see many of those.

I'd say it hasn't sold is because for the condition and year the price is too high.

A personal complaint of mine is seeing full on projects, missing a ton of expensive parts etc...with 7-20K price tags. I have a love/hate relationship with kijiji.I love to browse, but after a while I begin to hate people when I look at a lot of ads.

Yep. There are still cars showing up for sale that were on Kijiji when I moved here almost 5 years ago! Many of them have the same price.

Perhaps you're all right... I'm just reacting to all the $20,000+ price tags I'm seeing on cars that would have been solid $10,000 cars just a few years back, and the $10,000+ cars that would have been $4000 cars a few years back... it seems like a good deal compared to all those.  Not to mention anything vaguely "muscle car" is never below $30,000, and oftentimes they are clones (and sometimes poorly done emblem cars).

Like...

1968 Pontiac Beaumont SD 396 #s match Orig Metal in Auction

$58,888.88

$_59.JPG

1965 GM Pontiac

$16,000.00

$_59.JPG

1977 PONTIAC LEMANS

$13,500.00

$_59.JPG

Pontiac GTO Judge 1969

$95,995.00

$_59.JPG

1969 Firebird Convertible

$30,000.00

$_59.JPG

That's just browsing the first 3 pages of kijiji for Pontiac only.  Yes, some of these are nice cars, but are they really worth that kind of cash?

So, a cool '58 wagon for less than 9K looks better to me all the time...

I'm with you MC and Tom's wagon has original interior and likely very solid underneath. I doubt it has any bondo and for a real solid wagon pretty much complete, I think that is reasonable for around here. It may be that projects in this condition are not so rare west of here but around here, this is a different story. Find a solid body is step #1 in a project IMHO.

Yes, part of my first post was based on your previous comments about the car.  Seems like a good solid car for the money.

The other stuff has me wondering who can afford $30,000+ for a toy that gets used a few times a summer... certainly not me.  It seems I was priced out of the hobby when I wasn't looking...

Matching Numbers 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS

$41,500.00

All currently on NS and NB kijiji...

Many are nice cars, there's no disputing that, but either the owners are not really wanting to sell, or things have gone crazy pricewise... confuse

There, I've now beaten the topic to death...  wink

One reason. Emailed the seller asking for more pictures. You know inside, underneath, engine. To get a better idea of it. He responded "No"

I'm not calling you one but Tom has had a lot of tire kickers chasing him around for stuff via the internet and then not following up. Best to call him and ask him what you want to know and go from there. He's not really much of a computer guy. I have not crawled under that car but I think it is pretty solid.

If you find out you are serious after talking with him, I'd be happy to get you pics. He's about 10-12 KM's from where I work. Ask him if he owns any other old cars.....

I've seen that 56 Bel Air convertible, it sure looks as good in person as in pictures. He has several really nice cars including a red W30.

Yeah, prices for squares have gotten stupid. Good for me as I'm selling my 90 K5 Blazer soon...

Still, here in Alberta there are still a lot of cheapish squares out there. I should probably advertise in other provinces, but dealing with the results of that is probably more BS than I'm willing to deal with.
