Subtle tach and gauges

Out 69s have no instrumentation, just idiot lights.  And in fact there's NO tach for four speed cars even!

Has anyone got any ideas for how to discretely mount gauges?  Like inside the glovebox maybe?  No AC, so lots of room back there.

I would like a tach, but can't do the old "hose clamp to the steering column" that it came with and won't do a hood tach like my black coupe, since this car needs to be stock.

A set of 2 1/16" gauges in the right hand wood grain would be nice, but I need "hidden" somehow.  Tach could even be underhood for that matter...

For my Laurentian I bought a 69 Nova tach (small) and modified the area where the clock normally goes for it. I scanned the Nova tach face and re-printed it on heavy cardstock in the size to fit the opening. On close scrutiny you could tell it wasn't factory however that was 10 years ago. Technology exists where you could likely 3d print a proper face and have it silk screened.

Do a trio of 2 1/6" (or larger) Tach, Oil pressure and Temperature in a black 3 spot mounting panel.

Mount the panel to a stiff hinge, then the hinge to under dash edge, just to left of the console. When you want it, swing it down and up till it's facing you. Being all electric with no mechanical lines it can swing back and fourth no issue. Bundle the wires in a loop accordingly to prevent binding, kinking or chafing.

You need one of these GM accessory tachs, they are so cool,  correct for 1968, but not sure of 69.  they were accessories over the counter for all models.  Mine is from a 68 grain truck.  they come up for sale now and then, but are pricey.  if you find a canadian one it will just have a GM on it instead of a bowtie.

I do like that accessory tach. Not sure I'd put it on the column but could definitely find room for it somewhere! Can't say I've ever seen one, and gold luck finding one without the bowtie!

I'll sure keep my eyes open though!
