57 Laurentian 4-dr hardtop on kijiji NB

Pretty car, though priced on the high side.

From a restoration details point of view, I noticed the trunk has spatter paint and the engine is painted Chevy orange.  Were those correct for a '57 Canadian Pontiac?  I thought the trunk would be body colour and the engine was painted a shade of green or yellow (I recall that they used different colours in the tri-five years).  Still a beautiful classic, though.

This car belongs to one of our members and has been featured on C.P. in the past. It is a very beautiful car and there are a few things that are not correct for 57. As mentioned the trunk spatter paint and the orange engine colour is not 1957 issue. I love the all around look of this car. The silver paint, the striking interior, the many accessories and that Power Pack motor. It would take very little to make this car 57 correct. I love it.

Thanks George, I thought it looked familiar.  I've probably drooled over it in the past.  And thanks for confirming the restoration points - I figured you'd chime in with your knowledge of '57s.

Ditto on all the superlatives offered on this car.

A word on engine name and colour. There are a few threads in the Library that I personally researched and posted on this topic years ago. Engine colour and Canadian Pontiac names of engines are the primary topics I researched and documented. You can find all of this research and documentation in the Library on this forum.

First, I have no evidence that Pontiac used the term "Power Pack" to describe the high performance V8 in Canada. Rather the marketing term used is "Super Strato Flash"  This term was used from 1956 through to 1961.

Second, paint colour is normally green on the tri-five Canadian Pontiac V8's. There are a few shades of green used over the years and even different shades during years, but green is the colour. Having said that I did document one '57 that to my eye appeared original but never verified, that was painted Red. I never documented any '57's that were standard Chevrolet orange.

Ray, the term "Power Pack" is a Chevrolet term and a term i have always been familiar with. I had the 57 Chevrolet Bel Air (sport sedan) version of this car and my 57 had a 283 "Power Pack". Thanks for pointing out that Pontiac had their own term, which i had forgotten they did. Cheers.

The jack base is supposed to be green but I am not sure if that is the right shade of green. That is sure a beautiful 57.

Ray, thanks for the info, I appreciate the knowledge you have passed along to all of us in this thread.

I looked in the library but only saw your thread for sixes (but I have been known to look at things without actually seeing them... lol).  Would the V8s be the same colour as the sixes?

Yes, the sixes (261) and the V-8's (283) were both the same green  colour.
