75 pontiac 455 car

i would like to thank Carl ,for making this deal , too many of these old girls were wrecked , its already not mine but its been appropriated by my 11 year old. it was a long two day drive non stop with snow rain and what ever else mother nature could through. I did find out that the  jimmy is not a comfortable long distance truck even though it easily hauled at a buck ten or more. speedo was acting up, and I have a rattle in my transfer case which feels like a bearing. got the car fired up after redoing the carb, front brakes locked up, so the pads came out, but she got a cleaning and polish now it can be a father son project, no major restores, I have too many of those.122.jpg126.jpg129.jpg

Very cool!

First, it was great to meet you after so long.

Glad to see you made it home safely. I didn't realize you had so much overhang on that trailer until I saw this picture!

I'm delighted to see that car not going for scrap (and so is previous owner who had the car at least 35 years).

Here's a couple of pics about 800' into your journey when you left here!

I was refueling at some small town outside of Winnipeg , it was pouring so I took a break and washed the old girl up, the local kids working at the till never saw a old truck pulling a old Pontiac.

thanks everyone, my little guy loves it, its just modern enough to start teaching him how it all works without being a complete redo, and its Canadian to boot. I did learn a few things on this trip, the trucks mufflers are way to loud and carl will back me up on this, I need to install the overload supports back on my frame to keep my nose down, I forgot that a solid axel truck needs weight on its front or it follows every rut forcing you to travel in the fast lane the whole trip. my 203 transfer case needs a rebuild, its the vibration and power robing culprit. lots of power compared to modern trucks mileage wasn't to bad, I need a bigger fuel tank and to fix the seats and all the other bits ive been neglecting.

What? Can you speak up? I couldn't hear what you said........ Yes, it's loud........

That's a great car to teach a kid on. Not sure I'd want him to learn to drive with that one though, there's likely lots of torque in that engine!

ha habiggrinbiggrinbiggrin , boy was gonna come with , but my ears are still ringing, it was a good call, if shrek was quieter the it would have been fun. as far as learning to drive, it perfect , lots of torque and body role, I learned how to drift down gravel roads and look how I turned out.

I got the same reaction when I was dollying my purchased 2+2 with my Catalina.. I had numerous double takes and the same reaction at the gas station... "you don't see that often"... lol That was almost a 400km trip.. with a run back then through Saskatoon down 22nd and Idylwyld..

DSC01527.JPGcarpull.jpgnice , the reaction was worse when I hauled with my wagon,s , people have been taught that new is always better and seem to forget this was top tech in its day, and for the most part would out hall some big trucks, once the wagon is back on the road its back to work.

I moved back from another GM dealer that I had worked with to finally start my own business. So, while I was there, I gathered up a few more orphans and brought them home... When I was making the trip, I would make 2 trips a weekend, 400 km one way and the long weekends I would do 3 trips.

update on the 75, since im doing 20 things at once around here between snow, im only doing small things, first thing I got done , because it was driving me nuts looking at it and it jambed my hood up was banging out the bent fender, this required removing the fender liner and using a porta power to pop out the bigger dents, in the end I removed all the fender bracing to manually bang the rest out. put new front calipers on , installed heavier rear springs, and bent up half a new exhaust system from spare leftovers.

I haven't been on here for awhile for a number of reasons, a friend of mine which I have done Pontiacs with passed away in November, he had a lot of open projects, I came to the realization stuff needs to get done to be enjoyed so I dug in. I did some body work on the 75, but in that I also bent up new exhaust, rebuilt the brakes , rebuilt the carb, changed small vacuum lines and changed the rear springs, and also got the AC to work. now she starts at minus 25 no prob. I also did some painting in the anticipation of block sanding this winter, not happening way to cold.002.jpg001.jpg030.jpg003 (2).jpg009.jpg

There's nothing like the passing of a friend to remind us of our own mortality. Sorry for your loss, but also I'm happy for your motivational realization.

Is that a rear engine Skoda that has been jambed?

Ya he was a great guy, lots of stuff torn apart , now what. kids don't have a clue how to build this stuff and I have limited time. Skoda it is last model and a fuel injected car only 400 built for export and domestic market, and these puddle jumpers make me feel better about consuming so many trees. I have a number and still run them but the paint was crap on this one and is starting to burn off so it needed some attention. Yes Carl I will but needed to get one out to get more in.The next major paint a body will be the Camaro , im only doing small patch jobs on the 75 and the others. The wagon is getting brakes and a front end then new motor. Ive have to finish building a bunch of panels before spring.  010 (2).jpg
