Trucks start with a "T".... we know this is a 1970+ engine because of the 3 digit that starts with a "C"... I have 2 "CNR" engines in '70 2+2's... as an example.

Could be a badly stamped CKJ ? that would be a 73 L65 which is the most common 350 there is, that would make sense because it codes as  a 73 built in Oshawa, the engine was built at St. Catharines so knowing McKinnon didn't build engines like the L48 back then it narrows it down to a '73 L65. It was made September 12, 1973.

Now the casting is a really good one known as the high tin and nickle casting, that's the 3970010, it was used from 1968 through 1979. this casting went in just about every Chevy including trucks as well as Canadian Pontiacs and was often cast with 4 bolt main bearing caps although the majority will be 2 bolt. You'd need to remove the oil pan to see what you have.

This particular engine is not a Truck engine from the code so that starts to eliminate 4 bolt main bearings. I'd say it was originally in a 1973 B body Pontiac or Chevrolet, or 1973 A body Pontiac or Chevrolet coming off the Oshawa assembly line. The L65 is a 2bbl with 145 HP in 1973.

Not knowing anything about the engine and whether it is stock or modified the thing to hold out is the casting of that block. It was used in high performance 327's and 350's over its run in Camaros and Corvettes as well as bread and butter cars so it is a good platform for building up a good street 350.

 No problem, Pretty much everything I said above still applies, its out of a 1973 F, A or B body and since we never made 1973 F bodies (Camaro/Firebird) in Oshawa that is eliminate. It still is a 145 HP L65.

 Corvettes were never built in Oshawa, as we all know that. The person that told you that was using the casting # as a reference 3970010 which could have been used in a Corvette if the engine was made in Flint Michigan, but it wasn't.  In your case the other codes show it was made by McKinnon Industries in St. Catharines ON and installed in the original vehicle at the Oshawa Plant. Its easy to find out what was built at Oshawa for 1973 but I have already  mentioned that above. It came out of a run of the mill Chev or Pontiac, no harm in that, most likely a Chev.

Mckinnon, Sept 12, 1973 => K0912 -

Chev, 1973, Oshawa =>  131 407042, rest is vehicle identification
