1-Owner 1968 Plymouth GTX 440 4-speed in Winnipeg...$78k!

It is kinda sad to see someone's health deteriorate to the point where they let go of cherished items, but it is an eventuality faced by those who are lucky enough to grow old. Original engine replaced under warranty in June 1968 but it now has a 514 c.i.d Wedge.

Sure this is a Canadian Pontiac site but certain Mopars are so cool (many old ones actually).

GTX's are sure nice, and this combo is right up there. Not to be critical, a minor gripe, but why bother to advertise it as "Hemi" on the hood?

I'm missing something. He says after 40 years it's time to sell.

Is he saying he's not the original owner? The ad talks like he is.

1968 + 40 is only 2008.

At any rate, looks like a nice enough car. I don't really follow Mopars, will it bring that much money?

40 years is indeed 1978, so Oops the car was 10 already when the current owner bought. I need to curb my enthusiasm so that I can see clearly.

I know of a sweet '68 Charger that the current owner bought in 1971 and has stored every winter. Not an R/T, just a 383 4-barrel but it also is a factory 4-speed, has the bumble bee stripes & rare mag-style wheel covers. He was a volunteer fireman. It was fun to watch him get the call from the station. I remember seeing blue smoke rolling out of the fenderwells and he had a get-outta-jail card as Police & Emergency worker brotherhood dictates.

On that note, I was a volunteer firefighter for 12 years here in Morris.

One day on the way to the firehall for a call I did a pretty wild sideways onto main street with my 427 automatic Grande Parisienne and proceeded to keep my foot in it leaving some pretty long black stripes down main street when I got it straightened out..............until I noticed the lady RCMP officer I knew coming the other way towards me about a block away. She never did say a word to me, but I know she saw it.

Another time, same car, heading for a call, came to my last turn where I had to turn right 1/2 block to the firehall. As I got to the intersection and stood on the brake pedal to slow down enough, the pedal went to the floor. I had enough common sense to keep the steering wheel straight and blew straight past the intersection. I pumped the brakes and they worked fine, came to a stop. I was never able to duplicate that scenario again, and have no idea why that one stop didn't work.
