I've seen recliners sell for more than the price for the pair. He's being very fair.

I saw a set at a POCI swap meet once, and commented that I thought the seat back releases were wrong (should be in the middle of the rear panel). He indicated because of the reclining mechanism, the seat back release had to move to the side as seen in 1967 seat backs.

Not an expert on 70 Grand Prix ( although I had a 72 when I was young), but shouldn't the release for the back rest be on the back panel instead of the side ?

That passenger recliner is very rare . Well priced in my opinion .

I don't know, it a rare and desirable option for sure, but I can't imagine laying back on this thing. Ouch.

I was going to post a comment on the advantages of having her seat recliner but I'll refrain from doing that.

You nailed it, they are awful. But they are SO cool and SO rare!

Actually they are rather comfy reclined.  Thanks to the endlessly resourceful and generous Mr. Stevenson I got to put one in my 66 Grande that was out of a 66 Grand Prix.

I had to buy it as my wife said there was no way she was going coast to coast in the big yellow barge unless she could recline. She has yet to do it though... still hoping!

Maybe it has to do with our physical makeup Ken. I'm am bit taller than you and for me that seat back forces my lower back into an uncomfortable position when I recline it.

I was reading an article last night about the '40s "bathtub" Nashes ... how they came with an optional queen size mattress for the rear fold-down seats.

The article also said that years later, Nash put out an anonymous survey to "bathtub" owners to see what the conception rates were in their cars.

The early 60's Ramblers also come to mind.

I have a 1969 grand prix with the reclining seat, the button is on the side same as this one.I forget where I read it but it is correct ,they used the side button in these years for the recliner only.

I used THE PASSENGER RECLINER on our trip to Springfield for the POCI meet Carl-it was so comfortable I fell asleep with the roof down while Gary was driving-can you say serious sunburn! Gary being so fair skinned was screaming at me to please put the roof up!LOL

Having a bit more padding than you may help in that regard!

I think it's just the way the seat base looks so flat when the back is reclined, that leads me to believe it would be uncomfortable on my back.

Now if the base would just raise at the front....

What would be involved in using them in a B body car? I've always heard the seat tracks are different? I have a spare set of B body buckets. Is it as simple as swapping the tracks?

I would bet it is.

Did the 70 never have a recliner in the B body? I didn't realize that.

Seems to me when I did the conversion I just unbolted the ones it came with and bolted my Canadian seat tracks on.  it was pretty darn easy. The only thing I worry about is snapping the rather fragile handle.
