Could be the one of nicest example of this Canadian Model out there, although one of our members does have a very nice one equipped with a 455.

I am always truly amazed when I see car this age with the AIR system intact, those things rusted quickly and usually fell off or were ripped off.

Ray, this is you. Claresholm is a little over an hour from me, I could wheel down there and take a look for you.

I had to check the calendar to make sure I wasn't time-transported back a few decades. I don't think you could find a better example of a Canadian-built '73 Luxury Le Mans anywhere. Look at the moldings, the vinyl top colour and lack of lumps under it. And it has a Chevy L65 with smog intact. Of course there is no a/c, totally par for the course back then.

Clint, not my favourite model but I admit its nice. I see a GTO price on a unpopular small block model.

Cam, did you know that Canadian Pontiac VVS documents show this engine as L30, the same code as Pontiac 350 2bbl engines, even though we know its a Chevrolet L65?

The Canadian only 350 4bbl duals was the L48 Chevrolet and is so coded on the documents though. No Pontiac 4bbl engine was offered in 1973 either in Canada or USA.

Interesting the block is orange. Dad's 77 was blue. What year did they change over? Also noticed the dash is identical to our 77.

My '73 Lemans had an orange block 350 Chevy.  This was back in 1983 and the car had 27,000 miles on it so I know it was original.

If memory serves, didn't they change the colour to blue sometime around 1975?

1977 was the change over year to corporate blue. There are a number of 77 Pontiacs made in Canada with late 76 model engines that are orange but 77 was the switch over. Blue Chevy's starting in 77.

The 1973 -77 LeMans Line continued with virtually no changes to anything except 73 was a one year only body style with lips over the rear quarter wheel wells. The Grand Am was dropped in 76 and became a hybrid Grand LeMans with Grand Am interior and Luxury LeMans appointments. 75 last year for 455 in cars, 76 Last year for 400 in cars except stateside Can Am.

I know that Chevrolet coded the 350 2-barrel as L65, but at the same time Pontiac also coded the Pontiac 350 2-barrel as L65. So you are saying that when the Chevy 350 2-barrel was used in a Canadian Pontiac it was instead coded L30? I just figured they would differentiate that with the 5th character in the v.i.n.

Yes, Pontiac didn't offer their own 350 4-barrel after the 350 H.O. was last produced in '69, until Pontiac brought back a 350 4-barrel for 1974. In Canada we got the L48 Chevy in Canadian-built Pontiacs & Le Mans starting in '73, in fact only in Canada could you get the dual exhaust L48 in a Chevelle or Monte Carlo for 1974.

Hey Arte Johnson, haven't seen him since '68 on Laugh In.

Very nice Luxury Lemans, one of my high school English teachers had a 72 Luxury LeMans and traded it for a '73 when the Colonnade style came out.

Yes it shows as L30, the 5th digit in the VIN is the same as Chevys , its an H which you will not find on any Pontiac site that decoded engines for the LeMans. Seems they consistently used L30 for the 350 2bbl as the Pontiac RPO code and when built in Canada the factory installed the Chevrolet engine and coded the VIN H. I've got a few VVS documents but please don't get me to unearth them tonight.
