I have to buy new rear brake hoses for my 64. Problem is, two different lengths are available - 14 1/4 inch and 15 1/4 inch - anyone know if I can measure mine without removing them and if so where do I measure to and from? That is, is the dimension their actual length as supplied or that which is visible when fitted. (The plan is to get them and drive to my friends place where there's a lift I can use to make fitting easier!)
Normally, for one of my other cars, I would order both and return the unused item, but returning anything that's come across the pond is to say the least problematic.................

I can buy from North America but end up paying huge amounts for international shipping, insurance etc. Then, shortly after the piece arrives, an invoice arrives from the Royal Mail for the UK import duty (usually around 10%) then sales tax on top of that grand total (20%) and a sizeable charge from the Royal Mail for the collection of said total. Before I got savvy to this I once ordered a $5 thermostat, it ended up costing me virtually £40. It's because of this problem that I usually try to bring parts back with me when visiting old friends (which I have done many times). No trips are planned in the near future so I'll probably have to use one of our UK suppliers, which are expensive but not quite so swingeing, unless I can think of a better way.
Do the two different length hoses have identical ends?
Just remember if you are ordering from a supplier in the United States for a Canadian built Pontiac, you would need a brake hose for the same year Chevrolet Impala.
Never occurred to me the part might be stocked in Germany, but that's still a bit excessive.
However, thanks to the support of you guys, I punched the part number into google and found a solution. (Up til then I was just about ready to give up) Turns out I could buy it from Dorman on amazon uk for $15.21 US including UK shipping, apparently without any import duty. I'll let you know how it turns out!
