 A red 427 Parsienne convert with white interior must be rare...You'd want a real tag so nobody would claim it's a fake.

Maybe I should have built a 427 as a tribute to your car biggrin

I've spent the last two days on reassembly.

Today I brought over the stainless and I was surprised to find out that my body guy is an expert on repairing stainless.

My stuff was really banged up.

It is amazing with the proper tools, how stainless can look like new. 

The stainless wheel wells have been repaired and installed.

I had to bring the mags wink

Since there is no other business going on, I will be doing all the exterior assembly at the body shop.

"That way I you screw up, I can fix it" he says

The door rubbers went on in minutes but the "OER" window felts have different screw holes on the rear portions.

Just a matter of re-drilling tomorrow.

Install most of the rest of the stainless today.

Rocker panels still to go.

One of the 350 emblems is off my first 1969 Pontiac.

It has been on my shop wall for 22 years.

Cleaned it up and put it right on the car.

The deal always was that the car would sit when other work comes in,

The fact is, there is no other work right now.

How did you mount the 350V emblems with the fenders on? Double sided emblem adhesive tape?

 Yes, top quality 3M stuff.

The ones from the car had no pins.

I really took my time lining it up.

My old one had the pins because I changed the fenders on my 1969 Grande, 35 years ago.

Tape,plug and go !

 

 

Of course, some people like mechanical attachment smile

OK, last part went on today, kind of, some coming in the mail.

 

The purpose of these last shots is to thank everyone who have helped me with this.

Lets start with the grill.

It was always my plan to go with the Grande style grill as I had kept the parts off my first 1969.

My parts were pitted and bubbled so when Mark passed on the two perfect left sides(one NOS), I had to find a match.

 

Todd passed on those grills to Mark hoping someone will use them some day, Thank you Todd for your passion.

The side marker lights are New old stock, still in GM packaging when Mark sold them to me. Mark bought them in 2006 (post mark on the box)

The stainless rocker trim is out of Mark's rafters, who knows how long they were up there. 

Those little brackets that attach the trim to the rockers, I needed 12, had 9, Jerl sent me a supply.

The front wheel lip moldings are from another member who has been a great inspiration to me.

No name, just a very good friend who had floor mats too.

The Nose, you are sick of hearing about but Jerl, thanks again !

The Canadian Poncho sticker lived in the front window, covering up the rust.

Now it has a new spot where the battery brand sticker was.

I'm glad I did the engine bay and I'm glad I got Franklins in Woodstock to sand blast everything.

A member, who has not been on in a while told me about him.

The member with the 1969 B-body drag car, remember him ?

Just a few stickers to go. Some are stuck at the border, Mark is offering one from his collection that I will treasure.

I saw that Blue 1969 2+2 in Port Hope Ontario with this addition last fall and was sold on the idea.

Scared as heck about where to put that hole.

Ask the Canadian Poncho site and,

Not only does North come up with excellent US based car pics, he gives me great measurements too !

The silly little rubber inserts on the back bumper were always missing on my car, call it a pet peeve but Jerl to the rescue again !

And well we are talking about this guy, one of the first things I asked him for was the kick panels.

Mine were completely disintegrated.

The set he sent me were excellent but he kept the contents.

One kick panel was being used as a secret hide away for fun stuff.

As we speak Jerl is still boxing stuff for me.

I'm sorry Jerl, the fender skirts didn't make the cut.  

We can pass them on to others.

OK, it's not a 4-Speed 427

There is still a few minor things but there always will be.

Congratulations, Randy. What a neat contrast with that white interior. Also, my compliments on keeping the white lettering on your tires facing out and for running your exhaust straight out the back rather than behind the wheels or some other corny angle. Enjoy your cruising.smile

Randy, congrats on getting the sort of body job that it deserves but is very difficult to actually get. I had never actually opened this thread before now, probably because when I saw "body shop prison" it put a knot in my stomach. I have heard far more horror stories than happy endings. It gets painful.

It is impressive how straight the panels are and the alignment is spot-on. You also know it was fixed right. It takes guts to paint a car shiny black as any flaws will be evident. The trouble with these sort of restorations is with fresh paint, all the chrome & stainless that looked good starts to look shabby by comparison to the beautiful paint. That gets addressed and it really pops, but then other stuff starts to bug you. It just never seems to end. You should be proud of the way it turned out. It's beautiful!

I am so happy to see your car get the royal treatment. How many of us remember 3rd hand Parisienne convertibles that got quicky paint jobs that hid bad repairs, followed by bouncing from one starry-eyed owner kicking the can down the road for the next owner to deal with, squared? It culminates with the car either eventually scrapped or waiting to be restored but it never happens. I can remember many that have all passed on. Nice save on a part of unique Canadian automotive history!

Looks great!  Your car already had a very long and interesting story.  Now you have started a new chapter!

By the way, I like that you kept the spare in the original colour as it is a link to what the car once was.  Very cool.
