Interesting non-Pontiac for sale - 7 litre Galaxie

This car is interesting and rare. But it is hard to see the value in it without the original power train.

"Hagerty restored value is $60,000."  Sure... after you spend $68,000 to restore it!

Wow, didnt realize that so few were made. A man I knew had one in the late 70s with a 428. It was red with white top and interior and scary fast for a big car.

Try a '63 427 "lightweight" Galaxie, those were weapons! Probably only the '63 Z11 Chevrolet 427's were quicker at the time in the boat class, although a 421 Super Duty Catalina shouldn't be embarrassed by either.

Exactly. It will never be a $60,000 car.

One of my neighbors has a 7 litre convertible clone almost done and there is a real hardtop up in Hammonds Plains near Halifax. Same guy has a 67, I think thats the year, mercury Vert with the 428. Didnt know they existed until I saw the real one at a show about 2007.

Used to be a guy around here with a '66 7 litre Galaxie convertible back in the 1980s or 90s.  Used to see him driving it around quite a bit.  Nice car in a burnt orange colour.

This one has potential, but I don't know how scarce 428s are these days.  I have doubts about the $60K assertion as well, but who cares how much it's worth, it would be a nice car to drive when done.

Without the engine this car means so little because good luck ever finding that special motor.

It would likely get another correct block and a restamp I would imagine the original 428 is long gone into racing or a more valuable car needing a 428.

I seem to recall a maroon 66 Ford 7 litre Galaxie tribute car for sale on Kijiji a few weeks back that looked very nice. The ad is no longer up so I assume it's been sold.

I would just find a 428/C6 drop it in and drive it. Still in it for a minimal amount of $$$. But that's me........

I agree.  If the body is solid this would be the way I would go.  It would be a beautiful car to drive for now and a person would always have the option of a full restoration later on if you wanted to.

To keep it in perspective, this the equivalent of a 427 Parisienne 2+2 convertible, which people would be going bonkers about on here.  Nobody would even question whether it's worth bothering with for $5K.

Buy a mid 60's Thunderbird to get the 428 Thunderjet out of and your in business. For some reason Thunderbirds have little value.

Correct. They can't be that hard to find and not very expensive. I've been doing some research and you can buy a bell housing to fit an FE motor to hook up to a T56 gearbox. Wouldn't that be a ride!!! Update-Car is sold. I'm not surprised.
