Style 7837 is Parisienne 2 door hardtop with a V8

Serial number breaks down this way: First digit is model year (9 = 1959), second digit is the make (7 = Pontiac), third digit is the engine (1, 5 or 7 means it's a 6 cyl, where a V8 would have a 2, 6 or an 8), Second and third digits combined would indicate the model (Parisienne would be 77 or 78), then, body style are the next two (19, as in your serial number, is 4 door sedan).. the rest of the serial number is sequential, meaning the XXXXth car of this particular model and body style built.

From what I see here, the serial number and data plate on your car don't seem to match..?

Data plate is clearly a 1959 Parisienne two door hardtop V8, while the serial number is for a Laurentian 6 cyl 4 door sedan car... Weird.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about that as it is registered as a Laurentian.  I imagine my cowl tag is useless and not from this vehicle.  I guess it was built as a parisienne but is not really one.  The 6 cylinder is long gone and it sports a built 350.  Oh well I would have preferred if it was just left a Laurentian but it sure looks good with all the Parisienne badging, lowered stance and beefy engine.  My hot rod parisienne i guess haha

 Oh ok!

But is this a 4 door sedan or a two door hardtop?

Geeez what a nice car! Wow! Beautiful!

So my guess is that the data plate is correct, but the serial number is a transplant. You have the uber rare EIGHT emblem in the grille too..

Your trunk emblem is Laurentian, but everything else seems legit Parisienne. Do you have the handle on the dashboard, passenger side?

Great and rare car! Very glad to see another 59 Parisienne coupe like mine on the site!

Thank you.  It was on sale on Kijji for about an hour before i saw it.  I bought it right away and hoped for the best.  Been wanting one for an awful long time.  it arrived with a couple flaws, Wipers and horn dont work and steering box leaks.  Just gotta deal with that and it should pass the dreaded BC inpsection.

yes it has the panic grab bar haha

and is badged as parisienne inside too

Well, I would swear then, that the DATA plate on your cowl is the right one for this car, but it somehow changed identity sometime in the past. Rebadging a Laurentian into a Parisienne would be one thing, but transforming a 4 door sedan into a 2 door coupe is entirely another ballgame.

Congratulations again, whatever serial no. is on your registration, this is one heck of a nice car!

2 speed wiper and washer is the same 59-62 and 63 and maybe later in a vette. In most cases take it apart and clean it of the old grease and put it back together. I think there is a troubleshooting test in the shop manual. I had a document for bench testing them, havent seen it in a while but let me know if you need help. A 59 2 door hardtop is a great car, dont blame you for wanting one.

I had an absolutely horrid time registering my Manitoba '59 here in BC. Two government run corporations not wanting to speak to each other.

BCAA agent sorted that out.

Inspection no problem in my case. The Lincoln dealer I use did it for me.

My steering box drips a bit, have packed it with grease for now.

Wishing you smooth sailing with absolutely everything!

Robert
