Front coil spring size

I am putting together the front suspension on the 65 Beaumont and had a real bear of a time getting the front coil spring to go in. I managed to get it in but after releasing the clamp I notice the spring did not settle into the lower A arm pocket, I also do not think it is sitting in the upper one either. It appears the spring is too wide. I measured the other spring and it measures. 5.5 inch across  I then measured the springs in my other 65 and they are about 5 could it be possible I was delivered the wrong springs or am I missing something.

Don't think you are missing anything but it does sound like they are not the correct spring for that application, yikes. Hopefully you bought from some place that will allow returns.

Does the package part number check out as being correct?

Yes right part # on box just wrong parts in box. They will exchange them but what a hassle this weekend I had planned on getting the suspension done engine and trans in exhaust installation and drop body back on frame. I can still do it all but now I have to wait till right springs show up and moving the chassis around gets tricky. Oh well it will all work out.
