That'll work. When I tried to use my original I couldn't get a thing out of so I had to send it off to a tach repair service. He said the original circuit boards in those things  weren't much good and it is just as well to get it updated in any case. Got it done and mine works very well now. I am using a Pertronix on the original distributor by the way.

 Yes, that hump is in bench or bucket seat cars, interestingly.
