Time to wake up from a long winter! I want to replace the heater core on my wife's '69 Beaumont & was wondering if anyone can recommend a quality heater core? It originally had a 307, no AC, but now has a 454 from a '71 Corvette. Still no AC. Obviously I would like to source from Canada if possible as well. Thanks for your recommendations! Perry
The heater core in my 66 Beaumont gave up the ghost last fall. I bypassed it and when I think about how often I really need heat in the car, and the hassle involved in changing it, thats how it will stay.
I installed a new heater core in my 72 Nova, only because I had the car totally apart and just added the core to my list of parts purchased to put it back together. Prior to stripping it down, the heater core in the Nova was bypassed for years.
I got my replacement heater core from Classic Industries. My Nova also has a 454 transplanted in. I cant be sure but I suspect the heater core would be the same. That being said I cant find a specific listing for 69 Chevelle w/o AC.

Mike, I did the R&R on Kim's 65 Beaumont last year and it's not too bad a job, mostly just a bit of time including dropping the inner fender down. I took it to a place in Winkler vs buying a new one. It seems like the quality on the new stuff just isn't the same.

Yeah the 64 is the same with moving the inner fender. Just a little time and patience. I wouldnt be without my heater. Lots of times cruising sometimes with the top down and that heat feels so good on the legs. Went over the Coke a couple times in shorts and a toque and the top down. Still more comfortable than any motorcycle!
I'm the same, it's nice to be able to adjust to the cooler weather, and still be able to put your window down at the same time. Keep the legs as warm as you'd like. I would always have it.
In a good old school Rad shop, with your still good, uncorroded tanks and tubes, I don't think you could beat a recore on an original brass heater core. Rock auto and Amazon will probably be much cheaper though.
It's a roll of the dice... and you don't want to do it twice.

Thanks for the feedback guys. If it was mine I'd bypass but my wife has other ideas. I never thought about recoring though, I'll have a look when I get it out & see if its original. I agree about the 'quality' of modern replacements - hence my post wanting feedback on actual replacements found & used.
