Rivarossi HO Scale #5415 Union Pacific Big Boy Locomotive Road #4002

Rivarossi #5415 HO Scale Union Pacific Big Boy Locomotive Road #4002. Circa 1996. This one appears to have never been used. Still has the original Rivarossi Tag attached to the locomotive. Complete with alternative coupler bag, parts schematic, instruction sheet, warranty card etc. Not tested as I would recommend doing all the typical maintenance a locomotive that hasn't been run in 24 years before running. Model appears as new. Box fair (writing on one side, tape and tear on one end flap). $325 CDN plus shipping. PM for shipping quote.

Wow!  That's huge - would there be certain layouts that would be too tight to run that on, Todd?

Seller mentions doing a usual locomotive maintenance - what would that be?  I always thought electric trains were just put 'em on the track and go...

On a side note, I recently bought this book, which has history of the Big Boy and documents the restoration of No. 4014.  Haven't read it yet, but I'm sure it will be riveting... biggrin

I've seen 3 of the real Big Boy's (Green Bay, Cheyenne), including 4014 (Pomona) before it was restored.

Apparently this locomotive will work on a 15" radius but I think it'd look kind of silly. As for maintenance you'd want to make sure the factory lube isn't hardened and all the axle are free moving. I bought a non running locomotive from the 80's that was still in the box a few years ago and the axles were seized to the chassis. Once I freed them up and cleaned everything the locomotive ran great.
BTW -I'm the seller. I need to downsize a few things and the proceeds are going towards getting my truck up to snuff.

Lol... I didn't even notice there wasn't a kijiji link in your post... confuse

Very cool item anyhow, and thanks for answering my questions.  I keep threatening to get into model railroading some day, but have too many other distractions at the moment.

I really want to get something set up but like you Mark I can't seem to find the time. If I ever do it will be a shelf layout going around a room.

I got the bug when I was on my way to see the inaugural run of UP#4014. When I got back home, I ordered the engine and got a license place pressed. Someone will snap that one up from you.
