Found it attached to the back seat of this one, its Caprice upholstery for sure but definately not for this car. A mistake on the assembly line maybe? This car is a 283 glide with buckets console and gauge package.
Wow, yeah I guess you wish you had that one! I see a 396 4 speed, power steering, power metallic brakes, power antenna, power window, heavy duty suspension Caprice with a vinyl top. Who wouldn't want to own that car!
Is 125639 the body number? If so, is it close to the body number of this car?
No block heater.....

You forgot G80... Just going by the dates in the registry.
I've often wondered why so many people bought a 396 vs. a 427. You didn't stick with a 396 thinking it would be that much better on fuel I wouldn't think. If you wanted fuel economy you bought a 283 or 327.
And if you ordered an L35/M20/G80 Caprice, we know what you were up to. Why not buy a 427 instead?

I would think it comes down to dollars and cents. Money was tight for a lot of people and I bet the 427 was quite a bit more money than the 396. I have seen some cars that I thought had unusual option choices. One was a 1960 Parisienne convertible that was 283 three on the wheel. I talked to the owner and he said his father bought it new and couldnt afford any options after paying the cost for the convertible and the 283. The car was manual transmission manual brakes and manual steering.
Yes that was a lot of money. My Aunt bought a brand new 1969 Nova with a six cylinder and a torque drive transmission. It was basically a powerglide with a manual valve body. The shift quadrant was Park Reverse Neutral Hi First. She said could push and pull that gearshift an awful lot for 189 dollars!
