That 396 4 spd version would be rare as the 396 was only available in a 2 bbl in 1969 ( and then tied to a 4 spd ?)

The engine is a easy swap, yes,

It would take you longer to swap out that 396 emblem biggrin

I asked the shop owner if it was ok to come in the yard and look at it. He said it was being past down to a younger family member. I would have loved to look under the hood but that is not my place

Beaut! Love the colours. Is that an original body colour for '69?

Looks like Palladium Silver which was a standard Pontiac color that year. What an unusual power train combo, wonder what the original owner had in mind?

If a nice one were to be available in this colour combo, even with the 350, I'd consider selling off everything to acquire it Craig.

But it would have to be originally this combo.

It could be said everything is available, it's just a question of price. What if your favorite cousin were to reach out and start a conversation. I could lay it on thick, my cousin, god love him, used to have this same car. It was his favorite car, but one day there was this freak tornado, a 100 year storm, in Ontario no less, that tornado just swept into town and took that car away. Hes never been the same since, waking up every night screaming tornado, 2+2, save her, save her, and that's just the start lol.

I have pics of a 63 BelAir 2 door post with a 69 396 2 barrel in it, Ontario car with 4 speed. It is owned by Marv Bookman, the guy who built 3 Corvairs, a 409, 327, and 283. People bought a 396 2 barrel for good fuel economy, no question? A big block and good on fuel dont usually go together.

Anyone know the compression ratio and camshaft specs for it?

Be interesting to also know carb CFM, a two barrel doesn't necessary mean much, take today's throttle bodies for example.

Assume it didn't originally come with dual exhaust?

IIRC, the compression is 9:1.  Rochester 2bbl of this vintage and CID of this car is a large model 2GC. It is known as a 435 cfm but can flow up to 500 cfm. The primaries of a Quadra-jet flow below 300 cfm. The Quadra-jet usually flows up to 750 cfm when secondaries open.

So you don't give up much if anything in normal driving. The 2bbl will definitely limit maximum HP rating.

Dual exhausts N10 were optional but only standard on the top 427. We'd need the GMVVS documents to know on this car but I suspect that if someone ordered this with a 4 speed they likely ordered dual exhausts as well.

Most people threw in a mild cam and 4bbl. to wake up this engine, it was factory spec'd for torque and fuel economy. Clearly there is a lot of value to originality in this car however so a change for the sake of a few horsepower when the car will never be thrashed seems pointless.
