Wirin colors would be good. Mine has been disconnected and the colors dont match with the diagram ive got,not saying the one i have is right. The diagran ive got shows 12 volts going to the dash switch
As I always say when people are trying to diagnose electrical problems: Do you have a shop manual for your car? It has the schematic you're looking for.
generally the power (ignition) supply for the radio is orange wire, dimmer controlled light for the dial is gray wire and front speaker is green. Optional rear speaker wires were blue.
If the car had only a front speaker (rear speaker was an option) then the wiring sequence was as follows:
...front speaker had a green wire that had a 5 port connector (4 empty ports) that plugs into the radio.
...power connector from dash harness (orange and gray wires and an empty 3rd port) plugs into the radio connector
If you added a rear speaker (with fader) it came with a harness that would plug directly into the radio and then the front speaker and in turn the power connector would plug into the other end of the rear speaker harness (as the above sketch shows).
Thanks guys got things working. Had radio checked outand fader switch checked. Had to do a bit of repair to the tuner in the radio. front speaker works but isnt good and reap speaker is dead so will replace both.only wiring that was hacked was the rear speaker harness, probably from someone trying to add speakers at one time.
