I have a 1940 Pontiac Businessman coupe with a numbers matching inline 6 engine. I cant seem to find anything online to tell me what kind of engine it is the Serial number is 2798257. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Is the engine a flathead 6 or overhead valves (has a valve cover on top).

Your engine number shows up as a Chevrolet 216 engine built for the 1940 model year. That would mean that its a Canadian built Pontiac Arrow that used a Chevrolet chassis and drivetrain.
From this list

I realized that after I found your engine number. I do have a shop manual for your car if you need more information. I dont really want to sell it but I could post information if you need it.
