Hello all,

Long time lurker finally joined up. Posting my regularly driven 1949 Fleetleader Silverstreak...283/Powerglide swap, disc brakes, 12 volt conversion, a few accessories added here and there! So a bit of a story...I bought this 49 from a gentleman about 4 years ago...he had bought the car 20 years prior to that. It was in nice shape with a supposedly rebuilt 239 and was to be his last "driver", something to cruise in once he retired. Well shit happened and the motor had a cracked block so the car sat while life got in the way. He never even had the chance to cruise it. When I bought it from him I made a promise to take him from a cruise once I had it finished. Last year I finally made it back there. He was pretty impressed and thankful he got to see the car finished and driving. Took him and his wife for a cruise and they beamed the whole way. So glad I was able share a great moment with some great people!

Welcome here!

Would you consider sending pictures and a story on your car to the site administrator so he could feature it some month at the top of the page?

All the better... Seeing the cars is fun but often the story is even more fascinating!

Very cool. Nice window coverings. (Reminds me of the old riddle from the 50s How do you make a venetian blind?)

Extremely cool car!

The dash photo reminds me of a song:  I don't care if it rains or freezes...  and so on.  wink

That car is beautiful!

I am traditionally a Firebird/Musclecar guy, but if late I have been getting more and more interested in the older stuff.

It is always rewarding to be able to take a friend or previous owner for a lengthy cruise, to get the wind in your hair.... and share your appreciation of the select vehicle.
