I will always be a fan of Canadian made cars.

OK don't shoot me biggrin

But with a little bit of Canadian pride in my heart, I gave up on my 9 month old, new Detroit truck order for a Oakville Ontario built car.

0% financing and $2,500 cash back helped too.

The truck was now rescheduled to be built sometime early next year due to the chip shortage.

I picked up a used truck for my truck needs.

I spent 5 years at Oakville, after St Thomas closed.

I actually know people who helped assemble this car.

I know this ugly thing will lose value fast but I scored major points with my wife wink

The Edge has not been at the top of the Quality charts but it's never been at the bottom.

The Edge is a very nice and solid driving SUV. No need to apologize Randy.

You'll both like it!

I agree. The last three new vehicles that we bought I was particular that they were built in Canada. A Pontiac minivan and two Ford Flexes, a 2013 and a 2019. Good machines and good service from them all.

Gotta stick together.

So now I am really confused !

The truck I traded in was 4 door short box 2.7 Turbo.

You know the lines.

Small Engine + Turbo = better fuel economy.

The old 2008 that I bought to fill my truck needs has a 5.4, 300hp, and 190,000 kms.

The 2019 got at best 11.4 L/100 kms on that small 2.7 V-6.

The 2008 got on it's first tank, 12.7 L/100 kms on the 5.4.

Is all that turbo junk really worth it ?

Nope and those little turbo engines wear out quicker (worse if it uses direct injection) .

Our kids were shopping for a car, they bought last night. I told them to stay clear of turbocharged engines for that reason.

Bah...Don't worry. Just follow all the recommended services, and keep full synthetic in it.

While it certainly won't outlast a conventional engine, it'll give decent longevity with performance absolutely punching above it's weight.

Ive had 350,000 on each of 2 vws, 1 gas, 1 diesel. They were never apart and drove like new when I sold them. The gas 1.8 would lay rubber in 1st gear with both tires to redline. Both had synthetic from new, the diesel every 15,000 kms, gas 8,000 kms, the recommended interval. Depends on who makes the engine how good it is.

Imho, if you are doing serious towing a lot, get a big diesel or big gas, they have the torque to tow and will last. If you drive a truck instead of a car with casual loads/towing nothing wrong with a well built turbo. The question is, who makes a well built gas turbo in a truck? Ford????? From what I read, heavy towing with the turbo and it burns the fuel a bb burns while towing.
