Nice, very clean car, but the colour and price may hold it back. Spatter in the trunk.

Refresh my memory...  Did these cars come with body-coloured trunk instead of spatter?  Was it a Canadian/US divide, or a year model thing?  confuse

I was going to say that the blacked-out grille looks out of place on a survivor car, but looking at the brochure the grille looks pretty dark as well, so I'm not sure now.  I seem to recall that '63s had thin chrome bars in the grille, but it's been a while since I've seen one close up.

IMHO it would look tons better without the skirts, curb feelers, and white letter tires.  I think original style white walls would pop better with that colour, but just my opinion.  The colour combo is unusual, wonder how many were made like that.

Trunks on Canadian cars were body colour.
One of my favourite body styles and colours just a few add ons that aren't needed. But each to his own taste.

Pretty sanitary isn't it.

Skirts off, a tire and wheel change along with setting the stance, and she'd be there.

Thanks!  So the trunk was probably done when the exterior paint was done.

Yeah, lots of folks like skirts and spots, etc.  Not my taste but more power to 'em, doing what you want to your own car is part of what makes the hobby fun.

Every time I see a for sale ad, I do an imaginary 'build' or at least think about what I would change, and what I'd do with this one is take off the skirts and curb feelers and put thin whitewalls with original wheel covers.  I hope folks don't think I'm dissing the seller when I say stuff like that.  Others would put in a 409 and 4-speed, some would probably go LS or even electrification.  Not what I'd do, but that's the fun in it - it's all good IMHO.

I think body colour trunk paint started with the 64 Pontiacs and newer.

My 63 has a gray spatter paint ,  as far as I know it's original to the car.

The one shown seems too light ( redo? )

Just for the record  1963 canadian cars had spatter trunks just like the USA.   1964 was first year for body color

I wonder why GM went to the extra expense to use spatter paint in trunks. No other brand bothered.

Thanks for clearing that up.  When did they start using spatter for the trunks in Canada?  Or was it only 1963?

I know that in the 70s and probably earlier there were dealerships in my area that would splatter paint the trunk in new cars.
